Learn to Kiteboard starting at $45

The following classes are designed to learn the control of power kites and are not a kiteboarding “ride”. With proper guidance, you can learn kiteboarding quickly and safely. However, kiteboarding and other power kite sports require more than a few hours to learn and master the basics. If you've never flown a power kite but are interested, we highly recommend starting with the Power Kite Intro course.

Price and Duration: $45.00 per person, $75 for 2 people and the duration is 2 hours.

What you will learn:

  • Safety guidelines
  • How the kite flys in the wind (Wind Window)
  • Rigging and tuning
  • How the kite is controlled
  • Flying exercises to practice with your trainer kite

What you need to bring:

  • Flat soled shoes
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen and plenty of drinking water
  • Helmet and safety pads (we can provide if you don't have)

Kite Control and setup - Prereq Lesson for kitesurfing

You’ve completed the intro class and spent hours flying your small power kite. You can practically fly with your eyes closed! Now it is time to learn to control the power of a full-sized kite. The Kite Control & Set-Up class is held at the beach depending on weather conditions. If weather conditions are unfavourable, the class will be rescheduled.

WIndtraxx kitesurfing lessons kite control and setup

Prerequisite: Power Kite Intro course or be able to fly a trainer kite to the coaches satisfaction.

Price and Duration: $160 per person ; approximately 4 hours


What you will learn:

  • Choosing the location and analyzing the conditionsWindtraxx kitesuring lesson - kite control and setup
  • Selecting the right size gear and setting it up
  • Launching and landing with help and on your own
  • Optimal tuning of the kite
  • Use of a harness
  • Learning and activating your safety release
  • Water relaunching
  • Body dragging and board retrieval

  • Wet suit or dry suit (cold weather)
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen and plenty of drinking water
  • Helmet (we can provide if you don't have)

  • Harness

  • Flotation Vest (PFD)

Once trained in proper kite control and set-up techniques, you're ready to practise these fundamental skills with your own equipment. These essential skills need to be acquired in order to enable you to ride a board. Once these are mastered, you are ready to transform your kite skills into motion in the final class; Get Up & Ride-Water.


                         

This lesson is for you if you have not yet acquired basic board riding skills. We will take you out and pull you on a kiteboard behind the Waverunner.

Price and Duration: $100/person; approximately 2 hours

What you will learn:

  • Basic board riding skills with the absence of the kite

What you need to bring:

  • Wet suit or dry suit (cold weather)
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen and plenty of drinking water

What we provide:

  • Flotation Vest (PFD)
  • Board

This lesson is not dependent on the wind, so it can be taken in most weather conditions! Once you have your newly acquired board skills, in addition to your Kite Control and Set-Up you can put them together in the Get Up and Ride - Water!

 

Kitesurfing Lesson - water

This is the one! You can set-up your own equipment, launch and relaunch on your own. Now its time to Get Up & Ride ! With this course you will have the added comfort of your coach always being right there. While you are in the water the coach is on a Waverunner following you, offering on the fly advice.

Windtraxx kitesurfing lesson - get up and ride

Prerequisite: Kite Control & Set-Up course or you must be able to set up your own kite and be able to self-launch in control.

Price and Duration: $200 per person; approximately 4 hours

What you will learn:

  • Water relaunching in deep waterWindtraxx kitesurfing lessons - get up and ride
  • Self-Rescue
  • Water starting on the board
  • Proper riding stance
  • Basic transitioning (changing directions & riding back)
  • Riding upwind techniques
  • Safety and beach etiquette

 

What you need to bring:

  • Water shoes
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen and plenty of drinking water
  • Helmet (we can provide if you don't have)

What we provide:

  • Kites
  • Board
  • Harness
  • Flotation Vest (PFD)
  • Helmet

Once you are up and riding on the board and transitioning you will become more comfortable and be able to ride longer every session you get out!

The Get Up & Ride class is held outside on a beach depending on weather conditions. Class will be rescheduled if winds are less than 10 knots or greater than 20 kts, severe weather is in or near the area, or condtions are too cold.

 

Kiteboarding Lesson - landboarding

This is the one! You can set-up your own equipment, launch and relaunch on your own. Now its time to Get Up & Ride on terra firma ! Kite Groundboarding (KGB) requires less kite power than kiteboarding on the water. Learning with less power in the air results in less intimidation and a quicker learning curve. This course also serves as a great stepping stone if you want to progress into the water later on.

Prerequisite: Kite Control & Set-Up course or you must be able to set up your own kite and be able to self-launch in control

Price and Duration: $100 per person; approximately 2 hours

What you will learn:

  • Riding the board without the kite
  • Starting on the board with the kite
  • Proper riding stance
  • Basic transitioning (changing directions & riding back)
  • Riding upwind techniques
  • Safety and field etiquette

What you need to bring:

  • Flat soled shoes
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen and plenty of drinking water
  • Helmet and safety pads (we can provide if you don't have)

What we provide:

  • Kites
  • Board
  • Harness
  • Helmet and safety pads

Once you are up and riding on the board and transitioning you will become more comfortable and be able to ride longer every session you get out!

The Get Up & Ride class is held on the field depending on weather conditions. Class will be rescheduled if winds are less than 8 knots or greater than 18 kts, severe weather is in or near the area, or conditions are too cold.
